Bob Seger review, 1991

Today sweet 16 turns 81; glad he’s still alive, hope he’s still having fun. And there’s still no official comprehensive Punk Rock Years collection, though Abkco Records did put out the 10-song Heavy Music: The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966-1967 in 2018. Even better, in 2010 one Myonga Von Bontee compiled Never Mind the Bullets: Here’s Early Bob Seger — an unauthorized CD-R so necessary that I gave it the maximum 30 points in that year’s Pazz & Jop poll, and wasn’t the only critic to do so. (Also below: note the first appearance of the title my third book, two decades before it came out.)
